Trace of Trace

Since 7 years, the TTT (le Think Tank Theatre) has developed a research and produced projects at the crossing point between live art and cinematographic art.

Trying to understand how the cinematographic vocabulary (editing, framing, off-screen…) could be used – or even subverted – by performing arts.

The three-part saga “Pièces de chambre » was the occasion to materialize this research around stakes related to the dissociation between sound and image.

At the center of a closed device, the actors played their parts while they were observed by the audience through non-tinted windows, equipped with headphones. The sound (intra and extra diegetic, voice over…) was edited live.

Those seven years were also the occasion to suggest some collaborations with professional and non-professional actors, questioning the border between fiction and reality.

The Trace of Time is dedicated to the production and circulation of film works resulting from this research.

 Depuis sept ans, le TTT (le Think Tank Theatre) a développé une recherche et produit des projets au croisement entre art du vivant et art cinématographique.

Tentant de comprendre comment un vocabulaire propre au cinéma (montage, cadrage, hors champs…) peut être utilisé, voire subverti, par les arts vivants.

La saga en trois parties des « Pièces de Chambre » fut l’occasion de matérialiser cette recherche autour des enjeux liés à la dissociation entre le son et l’image.

Au centre d’un dispositif fermé, les acteurs et actrices interprétaient leurs rôles tandis que les spectateurs les observaient à travers des vitres sans teint, munis de casques audio. Le montage son (son intra et extra diégétique, voix off…) était réalisé en direct.

Ces sept années furent aussi l’occasion de proposer des collaborations entre acteurs professionnels et non-professionnels, questionnant la frontière entre le réel et la fiction.

The Trace of Time a pour vocation la production et la circulation d’oeuvres filmiques issues de ces recherches.
